(Pre-DecentFilms capsule review) Entertaining computer-animated fantasy epic of a misfit ant who with the help of the queen’s daughter aspires to liberate the colony from oppressive grasshopper terrorists. Note the superficial similarity to Antz, a more sophisticated film for an older audience, which was released at almost exactly the same time by archrival studio DreamWorks.
With Cars 2 approaching this weekend, I thought I’d take a look back at Cars, easily Pixar’s least impressive and celebrated film since their second picture, A Bug’s Life.
Cars is Pixar’s most improbable success to date, a film that could easily have misfired, but somehow does not.
